Surgical First Asst East Jefferson general Hospital

This position requires a diploma/degree from an accredited program and/or valid license as RN, LPN, or PA if applicable.- The candidate must have at least one year of supervised experience and successful completion of a 1 year institutional training program in the field of surgical technology. Certification obtained as a Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) through the National Surgical Assistant Association (NSAA) or Surgical Assistant - Certified (SA-C) through the American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA) is highly preferred. As defined by the American College of Surgeons, surgical assistants provide aid in exposure; hemostasis, closure and other intraoperative technical functions that help the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient.- In addition, the Surgical First Assist performs preoperative and postoperative duties to better facilitate proper patient care.- The Surgical First Assist performs these functions during the operation under the direction and supervision of the surgeon and in accordance with East Jefferson General Hospital policies and appropriate laws and regulations.
