Position Summary: This position reports to the Standardized Patient Director. The primary responsibility of the position is to educate, prepare, and supervise standardized patients (SPs) to deliver multiple mandatory, high-stakes clinical assessments for all levels of learners across the LSU Health Sciences Center. Schedules, implement assessments, and remediates learners rotating through the Standardized Patient Project. Schedules and trains all SPs in patient-focused medical education and SP Project orientation, preparation of clinical skills assessment, case training, and delivery of feedback to learners. Maintains all SP case activity-related training files and documentation, according to specific clerkship curriculum requirements and objectives. Works closely with Standardized Patient Project staff to deliver the required curriculum and assess the performance of the learners. Works with the Standardized Patient Director, course/clerkship directors, and Medical Director of the Standardized Patient Project in the development and implementation of instructional methods and evaluation strategies for an integrated clinical skills curriculum. Maintains SP Project physical resources including a sophisticated data/video software management system, and medical equipment. Facilitates an integrated SP program for diverse learners to include all levels of medical students, Advanced Practice trainees in Nursing and Allied Health, nursing students, Allied Health students, and all levels of residents and faculty. The SP Educator will be a Standardized Patient Working Group member and assist in case development and implementation of educational and assessment modules.

Required Education: Bachelor's in Health, Allied Health, Applied Sciences, Education, or related

Minimum: Five years Broad clinical experience in healthcare or healthcare education

* Bachelor’s degree in other area considered with additional three (3) years of required experience

Preferred: Bachelor's

Preferred: Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) certification; History of clinical medical education training. Knowledge of techniques and strategies for educating/training adults.
