Good mechanical skills preferred and rotoclave operator preferred.Specialized or Technical Education Required:High school diploma or equivalent.Manual or Physical Skill Required:Requires considerable hand/eye coordination in adjusting and repairing equipment and devices. Must be able to properly operate electronic and other mechanical devices. Responsibilities:
To maintain a safe, clean area for processing of hazardous waste. This services is performed 24 hours 7 days a week.Processes all hazardous waste daily.a. Monitors rotoclave process: The operator each month places a new test vial in the rotoclave. This vial at the end of the month will be tested. The results will provide information related to proper functioning of the rotoclave. It deems that proper sterilization of hazardous waste after the rotoclave process has been achieved. The test vial is prepared and taken to Sterile Services for analysis.Observes and maintains area and equipment for cleanliness and have repairs made when necessary.Report any breaches in Safety or Infection Prevention.In case of fire or internal disaster or community disaster, perform duties as assigned.Completes assignments on scheduled shift. If tasks are not completed this must be reported to the supervisor before leaving the shift.Must be familiar with and follows established infection prevention guidelines.Has knowledge of and follows established hospital policies and procedures.Communicates with supervisor regarding problems, accidents on job, needs and accomplishments.Assists in cleaning of emergency spills of any hazardous waste. .Perform any other tasks, which may be assigned.Follows North Oaks Health System’s Compliance Programs and Federal and State Regulatory guidelines.
