Shift: 12-13 hours shifts depending on location; 1-2 full shifts per schedule (4 weeks) depending on staffing needs as determined by leadership.

Summary:
The Nurse Practitioner is an independent healthcare provider who, working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary health team, is responsible for providing comprehensive care to both well and ill patients. The Nurse Practitioner educates patients and/or their families in order to promote wellness, prevent health problems, maintain current health and intervene in acute or chronic illness. The Nurse Practitioner seeks opportunities for professional growth through participation in continuing education, staff development and hospital committees.

Responsibilities:
1. Conducts comprehensive or episodic health assessment of patients/families with real or potential, acute and/or chronic health problems which may include the psychosocial, cognitive and personal assets and imitations of the patient/family, with an emphasis on wellness.2. Establishes medical diagnoses; orders and evaluates diagnostic studies; performs and monitors therapeutic procedures; assesses and/or manages follow-up plans.3. Records and documents health appraisal data necessary to maintain, coordinate and/or expedite required services.4. Assumes responsibility and accountability for time management, professional relationships and interpersonal interactions.5. Acts as a resource to HEALTHCARE staff and implements educational programs to improve management of patients/families.6. Develops, conducts and/or evaluates formal or informal in-service and continuing education programs in areas of expertise.7. Maintains and enhances a current level of knowledge relative to professional practice, as well as continuing education requirements necessary for licensure.8. Follows North Oaks Health System’s Compliance Program and Federal and State Regulatory guidelines.9. Is able to demonstrate competency in age specific criteria as applicable to job scope.10. Performs approved procedures competently.11. Documents in the medical record according to policy.
