Summary:
Responsible for inventory management and control in the Perioperative areas using the purchasing (GPO) database to aid in achieving best prices and cost saving goals. Responsible for ensuring all needed supplies and equipment are readily available to meet the needs of the clinical team.
Other information:
1. Education:Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management orAssociate or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration orCertified Surgical Technologist or health related field.Minimum of 2 years experience in medical supply chain and/or 2 years experience/knowledge of surgical products/processes.Healthcare inventory management preferred.Automated inventory management preferred.NOMC experience preferred.2. Responsibilities:
1. Research and select products for OR/Endoscopy procedures according to quality, price and serviceability using the GPO database.2. Review daily surgery schedule to facilitate timely ordering of supplies and equipment, including tissue using the appropriate purchasing channel.3. Prepare and generate medical specialty orders ensuring proper authorization per hospital policy.4. Contact vendors for the purchase of materials, supplies and equipment.5. Collaborate with Managers/Team Leaders to establish appropriate PAR levels per location.6. Receive supplies and equipment from vendors and ensures appropriate PAR levels/location.7. Perform daily inventory surveillance in the Operating Room and collaborate with NOSC to ensure same.8. Inspect and assess condition of supplies/material for distribution and/or sterile processing.9. Maintain continuous knowledge of supplies and their location in the Operating Rooms/Endoscopy10. Responsible for stock rotation and manipulation of Operating Room/Endoscopy supplies.11. Responsible for researching and monitoring all supplies for any changes/substitutions/back orders, including cost and vendor revisions.12. Responsible for proper disposal of supply items after deletion from chargemaster, pic lists and preference cards.13. Organize and maintain records of received and distributed property, supplies and materials inclusive of pricing, catalog numbers and vendor.14. Report potential submissions for inventory revisions, additions and deletions to the Operating Room Business Supervisor via the Sterile Services Coordinator.15. Assist in completing requests for new items to Value Analysis Team or Chargemaster Committee and ensures process is followed per policy.16. Assist in assigning and shelving new supply items (location, shelf, bin).17. Assist Manager, Team Leaders and other staff with inventory issues.18. Work directly with staff during annual inventory audit to ensure accuracy.19. Assist in educating staff regarding products and inventory procedures.20. Assist in interfacing with vendor representatives.21. Attend special training as needed.22. Communicate any discrepancies to Sterile Services Manager/VP Surgical Services.23. Perform miscellaneous job related duties as assigned.24. Assist in responsibility for troubleshooting all inquiries, discrepancies and problems that arise within receiving and distribution timeliness.25. Act as a resource for hospital departments regarding products, equipment and services.26. Participate in Quality Improvement activities.27.
