ULTRASOUND SUPERVISOR - RAD/ULTRASOUND

Shift: Monday - Friday Day shift and rotating holidays. May fill shifts that include weekend and overnight shifts.

Summary:
Supervise daily modality operations. Supervise subordinate staff members. Facilitate modality objectives. Provide sonographic services. Perform evaluations on subordinates. Actively participates in ICAVL and ACR accreditation processes. This is a working supervisor position. Performs Ultrasound procedures; in accordance with established professional and departmental standards and procedures.

Responsibilities:

Performs visual inspection of equipment, identifies problems and communicates to immediate supervisor.e. Reviews physician orders, checking for special instructions from requesting physician, and consults with the radiologist as necessary.f. Pleasantly greets patients, confirming their identification and introductions.g. Completely explains examination procedure to the patient and their family if present.h. Ability to anticipate and meet the needs and expectations of customers.i. Contact the Ultrasound Manager for equipment service issues as appropriate.j. Participates in appropriate education and on-the-job learning situations in order to develop necessary job skills.k. Demonstrates the ability to perform multiple tasks as required.l. Departmental Workflow: Consistently maintains area workflow of the Ultrasound Department insuring maximized production and productivity.a. Plans and prioritizes work while maintaining positive performance.b. Demonstrates a complete working knowledge of all equipment within the department.c. Performs all Ultrasound procedures. Demonstrates anatomy under investigation through proper patient positioning and administers contrast media according to the department policy and procedure manual. Obtains patient history and clinical data for correlation with the scans.d. Maintains necessary inventory of supplies for assigned room, rotating stock in an orderly fashion, and eliminating outdated items.e. Ensures all equipment is in good working condition.f. Works closely with scheduling to insure departmental schedule is maximized.g. Responsible for the daily operations of the Diagnostic Radiology department. VII. Customer Relations: Consistently maintains an attitude of Cooperation, clear communication, andgiving assistance in a clear courteous manner to all patients, visitors, team members, medical staff, volunteers, and students.a. Supports and facilitates the process of providing information to the Radiology Manager andAdministrative Director of Radiology and team members.Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill set, and/or ability required.1. Graduate of a formal accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program is required. An appropriate credential in vascular testing either from the ARDMS (RVT) or CCI (RVS) is required. Activecertification by American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in other specialtiesis preferred - (Abdomen, Breast, OBGYN).2. Progressive responsibility in a charge role is preferred in order to have a full understanding ofmedical imaging practices, equipment, maintenance, and functions. Two to three years of progressive management experience is preferred.3. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to provide effective leadership for assigned personnel.4. Analytical skills necessary in order to direct day-to-day operations of the ultrasound modality.Ensure efficient schedules of personnel and respond to equipment malfunctions or team memberrelation problems.5. Completed BCLS certification.
