LSU Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC)/School of Public Health/Louisiana Tumor Registry (LTR) is seeking a qualified Research Associate I/Cancer Registry Assistant to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting and processing cancer registry data. This position is specifically designed for individuals with no prior experience in cancer registration, who will receive comprehensive training to perform various tasks related to cancer registry operations. These tasks include: Accurately and efficiently entering patient demographic and medical information into the cancer registry database.  Assisting in maintaining and organizing cancer patient records to ensure completeness and accuracy.  Screening hospital disease indices and pathology reports to identify reportable cancer cases.  Participating in training programs to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for abstracting and coding information related to cancer patients.  Strictly adhering to all applicable regulations and guidelines governing cancer registry data collection, including compliance with HIPAA and state-specific regulations, while maintaining patient confidentiality.  Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in biology or medical related field.
