Southeast Louisiana Legal Services (SLLS) is a non-profit law firm serving the 22 parishes east of the Atchafalaya basin. We have offices in Baton Rouge, Covington, Hammond, Harvey, Houma and New Orleans. We provide free civil legal aid to low-income households.

SLLS anticipates hiring the below listed position: Adult Learning Content Developer (ADLC)

The Adult Learning Content Developer (ADLC) will work directly with SLLS subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop new and modify existing content into simple, easy-to-understand e-learning content. The ADLC staff member will identify, collect, revise, create, design, test, and integrate resources into SLLS’ Learn Upon Learning Management System. This role involves breaking down often complex concepts into their fundamental pieces and weaving them into engaging learning segments as part of learning modules that are easily understood and digested for use by legal aid staff and agency partners. This staff member may also work with other access to justice community members, volunteers, and other stakeholders to accomplish their duties. The goal of this project is to improve SLLS’ ability to respond to the legal needs of disaster survivors and to better prepare the agency to respond to future disasters internally and as part of our broader statewide civil legal aid justice community by integrating a learning management system into the agency’s work.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: The ADLC is under the direct supervision of the Executive Director.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Volunteers who may assist this staff member in the performance of his/her duties.

MAJOR DUTIES: Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with staff, volunteers, and other key stakeholders Facilitate engagement with stakeholders from multiple sectors and audiences Coordinating resources and helping design learning pathways for the new learning management system such as videos, power points, graphic design tools, and other resources Work with SLLS staff to implement a testing and evaluation period for new LMS resources Collaborate closely and professionally with SME’s to ensure they provide content in a timely fashion and/or work with SME’s to revise already created content Work with our LMS vendor to address and resolve any LMS issues Implement instructional design best practices to create/revise SME content into well-organized, bite-sized chunks with the adult learner at the center Create appropriate interactions in each lesson/module to keep staff engaged while learning for retention Ability to work independently and as a member of a team Convene planning meetings with necessary SLLS staff and partners Collect documentation for the project Assisting in preparing a project plan and grant progress reports Making presentations to SLLS staff, volunteers, and partners as needed Maintain communication with direct supervisor on accomplishments, barriers, and progress Proficiency in Google Suite programs, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, Email, Proficiency in graphic design, multi-media work, and video production is desired Perform detailed work requiring a high degree of accuracy and consistency Experience with Learn Upon or other Learning Management Systems is a plus

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related-field or Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school with relevant experience Three years of experience in the legal field, non-profit, public education, government, or another relevant field. Knowledge of working with Learning Management and Adult Learning systems preferred Excellent communication skills. Ability to read, understand, and interpret laws and regulations Professional, friendly, courteous, and sincerely interested in the client community. Valid Louisiana Driver’s License. Access to reliable transportation. Experience with computer word processing Familiarity with the use of office machines.

OTHER: May require some travel. Travel requires the use of an employee’s private automobile. Mileage reimbursement is in accordance with SLLS’s mileage reimbursement policy. This position will be full-time under a 3 year Disaster Grant with a salary of $45,000-$65,000.
