The Communications Manager is a professional position in the Office of the Dean, responsible for supporting the Director of Marketing & Communications in the development and execution of a comprehensive editorial strategy and communications plan for the School of Liberal Arts at Tulane.
The Communications Manager will work with the Director of Marketing & Communications to create brand-consistent messaging that enhances the reputation of the School of Liberal Arts and its many departments, faculty, students, activities, news and accomplishments, and will manage the distribution of this content across all mediums. This position will work across print and digital formats alike, including but not limited to the bi-annual School of Liberal Arts Magazine, monthly e-newsletter, priority webpages, social media, press releases, and digital ad copy. The person in this role should be an enthusiastic self-starter capable of executing simultaneous projects independently, while also working as part of a team and across university departments to represent and support the mission and initiatives of the School of Liberal Arts. The Communications Manager is someone passionate about storytelling and skillfully able to adjust writing style and tone to meet the needs of content writing and copywriting alike, across audiences. This position will support crisis and issues communications through message development and social monitoring. This candidate’s necessary skills include a critical editing eye and acute attention to detail, high-volume timeline and project management experience, and creative ideation and execution strength.
