Lab Research Technician, Microbiology/Immunology
The Laboratory Research Technician for the Department of Immunology & Microbiology will primarily be responsible for (1) processing human subject samples, (2) assisting with ongoing animal research studies (including mouse breeding, genotyping, immunizations, sample collection, etc), (2) performing immunologic assays on mouse and human samples or cell lines (including ELISA assays, PCR, flow cytometry, multiplex assays, BSL-2 tissue culture), (3) and performing protein purification with biochemical characterization (including bacterial fermentation, SDS-PAGE gels, Western blotting). The candidate will be trained by the laboratory principal investigator and other staff. The candidate should be able to work independently under minimal supervision with timely performance of experimental procedures, analysis of results, and accurate note recording. This work will also require teamwork and coordination with other lab members and general maintenance of the laboratory. This position will require occasional weekend activities, specifically being on call to process human samples collected over the weekend.
