The Tulane University Center for Brain Health (TUCBH) in the Center for Sport at Tulane University is a clinical care and research center for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Physiological conditions, and Behavioral Health (BH) conditions such as post-traumatic stress, depression and anxiety. The primary focus of the TUCBH is to care for former military personnel who have separated from active duty, with special consideration for those who were separated with "Other Than Honorable" or "Dishonorable" discharge status due to TBI or BH conditions. The TUCBH also serves civilian adults who have sustained mild to moderate TBI and are experiencing ongoing neurological problems and cognitive, physical, and behavioral conditions. The TUCBH provides interdisciplinary care for adults experiencing persistent effects of TBI. This includes comprehensive multidisciplinary assessment and an Intensive Outpatient Program that integrates conventional medicine with complementary and alternative treatment modalities. The TUCBH currently seeks a full-time Occupational Therapist who will work within an interdisciplinary team. The responsibilities of this position focus on direct patient care for individuals with traumatic brain injuries and changes in psychological health. Additional responsibilities include a local presence regarding best practices for integrative/occupational therapy regarding mild traumatic brain injury. The successful clinician will demonstrate knowledge of cognitive rehabilitation and skill remediation and understand community re-entry training as it relates to traumatic brain injury, behavioral issues and post-traumatic stress disorder. This position will report to the Director of Clinical Operations and will work with the TUCBH team with planning and delivery of integrated healing services using evidence-based practices promoting a holistic approach to healing in mind, body and spirit. This position will incorporate and practice strategies and interventions in the following areas: Stress Management, Resiliency, Mind-body interventions, Spirituality, Wellness, Assistive Technologies, Coping Skills, Self-Awareness and Social Skills.
