The Program Officer is a full-time professional position reporting to the Associate Vice President for Advancement, Principal Gifts. The Principal Gifts Office oversees the relationships, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of the University’s highest-priority prospects.

The Program Officer is responsible for developing, drafting, and coordinating high-level proposals for donors with principal and major gift capacity. They will work in close coordination with senior Advancement staff and gift officers, as well as communications, compliance, and donor relations teams. The Program Officer will also work with university faculty and leadership as needed.

They will need to be highly organized and able to coordinate the collection of information from a range of sources, including academics, students, leaders, and advancement staff. They will synthesize this information into a clear, comprehensive, and compelling proposal.

The position will work with a variety of sources across the university, including academics, leadership, students, and gift officers to research and develop a range of high-level and transformational funding opportunities for prospects. They will work closely with gift officers, the principal gift team and leadership to present material with a strategic and customized approach.

This position requires superior planning, coordination, research, writing, editing, and interpersonal communications skills. The ideal candidate will have a strong writing background, with an ability to collect and synthesize complex information across a broad array of subject areas into a digestible and persuasive narrative. They will be able to communicate clearly and effectively with internal stakeholders to create materials for sophisticated and discerning donors.
