The Research Scientist II conducts clinical and biochemical measurements of biosamples from research studies associated with the Tulane University Translational Science Institute (TUTSI) and the Department of Epidemiology. This position manages the Clinical Research Laboratory and the biobank of blood, urine, and other samples, which are stored in the Tidewater building and in the freezer farm at the Tulane National Primate Research Center.
Research Scientists are individuals holding a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree who play a major role in enabling research programs through collaborative and collegial interactions with faculty, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and staff. The rank of a research scientist is a staff appointment. A Research Scientist II may apply their effort entirely to research, or a combination of research, training, and lab managerial activities.
