The Senior Accountant is responsible for overall direction, management, and supervision of the financial operations and accounting staff of the Department of Surgery. The department’s financial and accounting team provides all financial transaction processing and reporting services for the department, including but not limited to preparing monthly and year-end financial reports; completing account reconciliations and journal entries; and providing support with financial audits. In collaboration with the Executive Director and Director of Research, the Senior Accountant also provides financial and administrative oversight for pre- and post-award administration for the department’s sponsored projects portfolio. The Senior Accountant is responsible for leading financial/accounting process improvement initiatives and supports the Executive Director with other departmental projects as assigned.
